Delayed treatment of appendectomy that causes systemic inflammatory response syndrome: a rare complication

چکیده
When acute appendicitis is present and lately treated, further complications will occur against patients. This case report describes an unusual presentation of acute appendicitis in a young patient and demonstrates a unique late complication of perforated appendicitis. A 15 year old female acute appendicitis patient had laparatomy accompanied systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) symptoms. After treatment of 6 days in the intensive care unit (ICU), the patient was healed. We emphasize the importance of early treatment for acute appendicitis and septic complications.

Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome Due to Surgery and its Effective Therapeutic Approaches
Introduction: Various lesions trigger an inflammatory response in the host body. These injuries include surgical stress Surgery exerts stress on the body. Systemic inflammatory syndrome is a reflection of the degree of surgical stress and as a system of assessing the severity of postoperative stress. Regular complexes of inflammatory polypeptide molecules contribute to the development of this i...
متن کاملAcute Otitis Media-Induced Gradenigo Syndrome, a Dramatic Response to Intravenous Antibiotic
Introduction: Petrositis is a rare but severe complication of acute otitis media and mastoiditis. Despite efficient antibiotic therapy, there are still reports of both intratemporal and intracranial complications of otitis media with the potential risk of high morbidity and mortality. Petrositis has traditionally been treated with surgery, but recent advances in imaging, with improved antibioti...
متن کاملHyperbilirubinemia Is a Significant Indicator for the Severity of Acute Appendicitis
PURPOSE This study aims to reveal more effective clinical or laboratory markers for the diagnosis of acute appendicitis and to score the severity based on a sufficiently large number of patients with acute appendicitis. METHODS We identified 1,195 patients with acute appendicitis after excluding those with other causes of hyperbilirubinemia among the 1,271 patients that underwent a laparoscop...
متن کاملSystemic inflammatory response following acute traumatic brain injury.
The early, delayed, and systemic effects of acute traumatic brain injury (TBI) are the result of inflammatory mediators which initiate systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), subsequent complement deficits and coagulopathy. Once SIRS is triggered by acute inflammation, it can detrimentally self-propagate. Systemic inflammation causes tissue damage leading to further inflammation and dam...
متن کاملSerum procalcitonin level as a biomarker for the differential diagnosis between infectious and non-infectious systemic inflammatory response syndrome: a prospective case–control study
Background and Aim: Considering the importance of sepsis and its complications in the mortality of the patients admitted to different parts of hospital and the importance of early diagnosis and timely and appropriate treatment in the patients' survival, we investigated the value of procalcitonin serum level for the differential diagnosis between infectious and non-infectious SIRS in the patient...
